For those proverbial 10 sec of fame? Just to update the fam? An attempt to create street cred in their chosen profession? It is probably all these for me.

My plan will be to try and stick to some sort of theme. I will now pick the somewhat obscure theme of Medical Illustration and Animation, while bringing in discussion on sculpture, graphic design, music, and travel. Hopefull this will not turn into some rediculous-free-for-all-stream-of-concious-drivel, but I make no promises.

Human brain - modeling, texture and lighting using Maya 2008

So, from now on, heres what to expect: Like so many people out there, I got out of art school and floundered. I have the "real job" to make up for lack of illustration income. I have hooked a gig here and there by word of mouth, but I have this "golden ideal" of my career that I feel is still seems to be far away in the horizon. Hopefully this blog will follow my progress and arrival to that distant point.

Another thing I hope for is to hear from other artists, especially illustrators, musicians, sculptors, and animators. I want to hear about their personal journies to their own golden ideals; the "Hustle and Scratch" as I have heard it described in Philly. Hustle to get some good work out there and do some pro bono, and scratch the surface to the wealth of clientel hidden beneath.

I will also talk about techniques, tutorials, and little tricks I discover while using photoshop, illustrator and Maya to do my art/work, and I will probably post works in progress as part of that.

Lastly, I would like to give credit to the name "public cervix announcement" to my good friend Robin Peterson. He is one of the funniest people I know, and I proclaim it to be his intellectual property.
